Mrs. Sandi Wyzgoski
January 27, 1945 - February 20, 2022
Sandi Wyzgoski passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 20, 2022—a beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, daughter, and friend. She is survived by three daughters and their partners—Kris Bischof (Carl); Kathy Buege (Michael Kessler) and her children Grace and Thomas; Karin Jergovich (Tony) and their children Jack, Ryann, and Sean; as well as her two sisters Linda Anstiss (Bob) and their children Brian and Stephanie; Patti Abbott and her children Jeff and Lindsay. She is also survived by her best friend Sharon Shelton (Pat) and, last but not least, her beloved dogs Mia and Mimi. A talented painter, potter, and artist, Sandi was colorful not only in her artwork, the living spaces she created, her bold sense of style, and her collection of hats; but in her personality. In her early years she’d set off on solo bus trips from Detroit to the South to visit with family. As a wife and mother she was the orchestrator on many adventures, introducing new foods, places, music, and Southern customs to her husband and daughters, all the while embracing the joys of together-time. To her extended family she was a strong support system, swift to advise, assist, and simply show up in moments of need. With her sisters (“the Haley Sisters”)— a singing trio who performed at churches and community events when they were young— singing was central to every gathering. She achieved her Masters degree from Wayne State University in psychology and was a well-respected high school special education teacher for over 25 years. Having lost her husband Mike just over a year ago, Sandi rekindled her connection with the South, embarking on a bittersweet, independent life in Gulf Shores, AL. Her newly decorated condo served as a journal of her vibrant, happy life.
