Mr. Robert A. "Bobby" Giles Sr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Robert A. “Bobby” Giles, Sr., age 59, a resident of Summerdale, AL, passed away Monday, January 25, 2021 from complications of the Covid-19 pneumonia virus. A man called Husband, Brother, Uncle, Coach, Friend, and Dad, Bobby meant so much to so many. He was proud to drive an oil tanker for Aaron Oil Company of Saraland, AL for the past 11 years. An avid fisherman and Alabama football fan, Bobby loved to spend time talking to his friends. As mentor to many, Bobby always wore a smile and was proud to tell you about his family and his faith. Raising four sons, he accepted everyone they brought in as his own and as long as he had a roof over his head, so did they. His greatest joy was being called “Pops” by his grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart. A few times a year, you might see a piece of poetry that Bobby wrote. He had a way with words, especially when it came to expressing his love for his wife and his Heavenly Father. He attended Silverhill First Baptist Church and enjoyed listening to music, especially Classic Rock and Southern Gospel. Early in life, Bobby accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. There is nothing more important to his family than knowing that he is spending eternity in heaven where they will see him again. Respected and loved by so many, Bobby has left a legacy in this world that will be felt for generations to come. Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, the Reverend Oliver and Ruby Giles, and a brother, Tommy Giles. He is survived by his wife, Lacy Ard Giles; four sons, Drew (Elizabeth) Giles, AJ Giles, Brad (Alicia) Giles, and Ethan (Taylor) Giles; stepdaughter Lindsay (Josh) Ryan and stepson Bruce Peturis; eight grandchildren, Tripp, Colton, Tyler, Laikyn, Kendall, Broncs, Chloe and Fisher; three brothers, Bud (Norma) Giles, Derial (Elaine) Giles, Phillip (Mary) Giles; two sisters, Thressa (Baxter) Wood and Lynette Giles. Funeral services will be held from the Silverhill Baptist Church, Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale, AL. In lieu of flowers, Aaron Oil Company has created a go fund me account titled “Memorial Gift for the family of Bobby Giles” to assist with medical expenses or contributions can be mailed directly to 16632 County Road 32, Summerdale, AL 36580.
