Dr. Marvin Hoffman “Buddy” Taylor, 87, of Foley, AL passed away on Monday, December 14, 2020 at his home. He was born July 10, 1933 in York, Alabama and grew up in Chatom, Alabama. Dr. Taylor graduated from Washington County High School in Chatom, Alabama in 1951. He attended the University of Alabama and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He was awarded early acceptance into the School of Medicine before receiving his undergraduate degree. Dr. Taylor graduated from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1957 and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. Dr. Taylor joined the medical practice of Dr. W.C. Holmes in Foley in 1960 and was a general practitioner in Foley until his retirement in 1992. Dr. Taylor was passionate about the practice of medicine and believed in treating every patient who sought medical care regardless of his or her station in life or ability to pay. He loved gardening, hunting and fishing; he especially loved Monday pinochle and lunch with his friends at his river cabin. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Dr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 59 years, June Blackmon Taylor. Children Marvin Hoffman “Bud” Taylor, Jr. (Julia Ramirez), John Anthony “Tony” Taylor (Monica Roush), Scott Byron Taylor (Gayle Rogers), Stephanie Taylor Pluscht (Peter “Trey” Pluscht, III), and Philip Edward Taylor (Paula Woerner). Grandchildren Webster Ian Pluscht, Theodora Siobhan “Teddie” Taylor, Catherine Nicole Taylor, Andrew Scott “Drew” Taylor, Paul Albert Pluscht, Dalton Philip Taylor, Forrest Edward Taylor. Siblings HB Taylor, James Michael “Mikey” Taylor and Florence “Flo” Taylor Peters. He is predeceased by his parents Marvin Henry Taylor and Audrey Hoffman Taylor of Chatom, Alabama. Siblings Peggy Joyce Taylor, Tommy Gene “Skeets” Taylor, Dr. William Arnold “Billy” Taylor, and Joseph Mearl “Joe” Taylor. The family will have a private memorial service.
