Mr. Johnie Jewel Cooper

Johnie Jewel Cooper, 89, a resident of Elsanor, AL passed away Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. He was retired from the Baldwin County Highway Department. Mr. Cooper was a member of Robertsdale First Assembly of God Church. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved to work in the garden. Mr. Cooper was known for sharing his garden with family and friends. Mr. Cooper was family oriented. He was preceded in death by his son, Curtis Blocker; parents, Lon and Rosie Cooper; five sisters, Eloise Keenan, Lois Lanicek, Lennie Downer, Thelma Peterson and Juanita Cooper and one brother, Carlos Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Verda Lee Cooper; two daughters, Conna “Connie” McHenry (Danny) and Denise Mills (Greg); three sons, Johnie M. “Yogi” Cooper (Wendy), Wade Cooper and Wayne Cooper (Barbara); sister, Carolyn Powell; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Robertsdale First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Michael Lynn officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale, AL. A visitation will be held Friday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
