On January 6, 2021 Col. Gustav J. Gillert, Jr. (Ret.) went to be with Jesus. He was 96. Gus is finally together again with his beloved wife, Beasie, who died twenty years ago. Gus served in the United States Army for thirty-two years. He fought in World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. In the Army, he served in the Infantry, Airborne, and Special Forces. After retiring from the military, he worked for the State of Pennsylvania for twenty-three years. Gus is survived by his son, Greg, and his wife Denise Gillert, and by his daughter, Elissa and her husband, Randy Mitchell; and their two daughters, Beatrice and her husband, David Hayes, and Dustyann and her husband, Matthew Fields and their two children, Christian and Faith. Gus also leaves behind a younger brother and his family as well as a great number of nephews and nieces. Gus’s life was one of service to God, his family, and his country.
