September 13, 2021
Dorothy “Eloise” Hall Peturis, age 87 of Loxley, AL passed peacefully at her residence on Monday, September 13, 2021, and has gone on to be with our Lord Jesus after a long battle with dementia. Mrs. Eloise as many would call her was born in Appleton, AL on March 4, 1934. She met her husband, George Peturis while working on the Corte Packing Shed in Loxley. As she tells it, George was delivering corn to the shed where she was working, and his face was so dirty all she could see was the whites of his eyes. That’s all it took. They eloped and married on May 30th, 1953, in Lucedale, MS. Mrs. Eloise spent her life working along side her husband on their family farm. She was her husband, George’s co-pilot for many thousands of miles traveling in a semi-truck delivering sweet potatoes to customers in various states. The family would always come in from work on the farm to a home cooked meal everyday at lunch. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Penn Hall and Viola Lee Baker Hall and her brothers, Therman (Becky) Hall, Douglas (AnnieMae) Hall and Gordon Hall. Mrs. Peturis is survived by her husband, George John Peturis; children, Susan (Clint) White, Randy (Gwen) Peturis, Joe (Nanette) Peturis and Lisa (Larry) White; sister, Nell (J.W.) Middleton; sister-in-law, Joann Hall all of Loxley, AL; ten grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, September 16, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Silverhill Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends at 9:00 a.m. prior to the service at the cemetery.
