Mrs. Catherine Hesse Lehmann

June 15, 1931 - January 11, 2021

In the quite hours of the morning of January 11, 2021, Catherine Lehmann returned her life into the care of God in heaven. God, in His infinite wisdom, allowed her to take this last step without the burden of the knowledge of the death of her beloved daughter, Regina Bengtson. She peacefully stepped into God's hands, rich not in land, cattle or money, but with the riches of her family-her children, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. We have lost a life well-lived. In 1931, Catherine was born in Foley, AL to John and Frances Hesse, who gave her a strong Catholic heritage which she carried her entire life. She gave her all - unselfishly - to the establishment of St. Patrick's Church in Robertsdale, AL. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, the love of her life, Eugene Lehmann. They were lifetime partners in family, church and community. She served many wonderful meals to her family and enjoyed growing her own vegetables and flowers. She was a pillar her entire life as a member of her Church's Ladies Auxiliary, freely giving her time. Her life will be celebrated and remembered by her three surviving daughters, Patricia Durant (Evan) from Bromley, AL, Joanne Kinsey (Tommy) from Foley, AL and Mary Mattison (Greg) from Foley, AL and her three sons, Edward Lehmann from Summerdale, AL, Paul Lehmann from Robertsdale, AL and Richard Lehmann and Serena Roberson from Summerdale, AL and her beloved sister Mary Ann Strain of Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her sister Bernice Harrison and her brothers John and Edward Hesse. She had 11 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Robertsdale on Monday, January 18, 2021. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 AM and the Mass will begin at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in the Wynn Cemetery in Summerdale, AL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Church, 23035 State Highway 59, Robertsdale, AL 36567.
